From the mountains to the ocean

We are Neil and Kathleen Donohoe, recently retired transplants from Lafayette, CO to Vero Beach, Florida. With four kids launched and new worlds to discover, we realized a dream first imagined over 12 years ago, while walking around a marina in Victoria, Canada. Several Trawlerfests, seminars, online training sessions and one week of a chartered training cruise later, we made the seemingly insane decision in 2018 to sell our home that we had built in 1999, and most of the belongings in it, move to an apartment and begin searching for our dream – a Nordhavn 50. Fate and luck allowed us to meet Deanna and Clayton Naeve, the then-owners of M/V Tivoli, who were deciding to move back ashore. Timing is everything, and we were able to find and purchase an elusive Nordhavn 50 much more quickly than we ever dreamed. We drove away from our beloved Colorado, family and friends, and across the country to Florida. After completing the purchase and moving aboard, we spent the next three weeks with a training captain, Bernie Francis. Under his tutelage, we cruised the Florida coast, learning tremendous amounts, while seeing incredible sights. Now, with our certification in place, we begin our new life. And we’d love to invite you along to experience it with us.
